Steve Cram MBE visits obk

It was recently our pleasure to welcome former world record holder and world champion athlete Steve Cram MBE to our offices.  Clydesdale bank (Hertford) hosted an event at our offices for their clients.  Paul Kennedy spoke on the topic of “What can business can learn from sport?”  (see blog) and Steve Cram then responded with his views on the subject.  Steve is a very good speaker (as you would expect from someone working with the BBC) and weaved in amusing stories of his exploits in athletics.  He also explained how systematic and organised Team GB’s preparation for the 2012 Olympics has and will continue to be.  Steve told us the story of how Olympic hopeful Jessica Ennis fractured a bone in her foot some years ago and was told she could never jump off that foot again.  Instead of retiring, Jessica learnt to jump off her other foot! and is now back to her best again. Just one insight into the attitude that explains why top athletes are top athletes.  Looking forward to 2012 Olympics even more now!
